During recruitment current members all know what to expect from PNM’s. We are ready for the know-it-all’s, the shy ones, over excited ones, etc. We have seen it all. Here are the 7 types of PNM’s that all active members will encounter during recruitment.
1.The Legacy
Don’t worry; this one is quick to spot. Not only because you will have a list of legacies going through recruitment, but because she will make it a point to tell you her mom, aunt, sister and 3 cousins are in the same chapter. Regardless of if she’s a legacy in your house or another one you will know she has letters waiting for her.
2. The Boy Crazy
PNM’s are told topics that are not to be discussed. One of which is boys. However, you most definitely will come across the girl who just can’t resist from telling you about all the guys she’s met so far in college! This girl is often “a party girl.” She will tell you how drunk she got her first night at school and if you’re really lucky she will even drop a few fraternities she has partied at!
3. The Bitch
It’s amazing how often you will run into this girl. She clearly does not want to be at your house and she makes it pretty obvious. You’ll see it through her eye rolls, hair flips and her short attention span. This one always mentions other sororities. She thinks she is too cool for school, and apparently your chapter too.
4. The Try Hard
From the moment she walks in to the second she lives she is filled with compliments. Whether it’s the chandelier in the house library or your shoes, she will find something and tell you how much she loves it. This one can be tricky. She is genuinely interested and means well, but you cringe at her inability to have a natural conversation.
5. The One With Social Anxiety
The hardest to talk to. This girl is the sweetest she just gets nervous and it hurts her in the end. You’ll be able to see her hesitate with her every word and have some awkward laughs throughout the entire round. Try to remember how you felt during recruitment. It could be nerve wrecking. Appreciate that the one with social anxiety probably wants to be there, cut her some slack!
6. The Babe
The most strikingly beautiful girl you have ever seen. I’m talking she walks into the house and Beyoncé’s Flawless starts playing in your head. During entertainment round, everyone is trying to make eye contact with her to see if she’s smiling. Your eyes are glued to her as she enters your house, and you hope she will keep coming back. She is constantly talked about and known amongst all chapters.
7. The Rush Crush
All us active members have had the rush crush. It’s that girl who you automatically click with. The girl who knew your best friend from home from that teen tour they took 3 years ago, the girl who loves only vanilla cupcakes just like you, and the girl who totally fits in your house! You loved her and she loved you, plain and simple. You not only have called dibs on rushing her 3rd, but you have already claimed her as your little.
Remember, these girls could potentially be in your house. You need to break through these 7 deadly PNM characteristics and get to the real girl. The awkward one may end up being your new best friend, or the bitch may even open up to you. You have the bid and you’re already in, you just need to find who is next.
