PNMs are all trying to answer one question—“which sorority is right for me?” Every sorority brings something different to the table and it is often difficult to get a feel for each one on your campus. PNMs base their rush decisions on a variety of factors such as size of the chapter, popularity, physical attractiveness, and philanthropic activeness. But if you’re looking for a great, well rounded sorority to get the most out of your four years, there’s one sorority you should keep your eyes on.

In 1888 two seniors at Boston University decided to create an organization that would “be kind alike to all and think more of the girl’s inner self and character than of her personal appearance.” Since its founding Tri Delta has grown to be one of the largest sororities nationally with 138 chapters, over 16,000 active members, and 279,000 alumnae members.

Tri Delta consistently ranks among the top sororities in national polls, and rightfully so. This top tier sorority is known nationally for recruiting outgoing members who love to have a good time, but Tri Delta is also one of the most philanthropy-oriented organizations you’ll find on any college campus. In 1999 Tri Delta named St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its philanthropic partner. Since then the sorority has raised over $38 million for the hospital and in 2014 Tri Delta committed to raise $60 million over ten years. This commitment is the largest fundraising commitment in the hospital’s history.

While Tri Delta always seems to recruit some of the best looking girls on campus, the organization’s members focus on much more than physical appearance. In 2012 Tri Delta launched BodyImage3D, an initiative to raise body image awareness. This program encourages girls to adopt a more well rounded body image and replace negative stereotypes and stigmas. So if you’re looking for a sorority that loves to have fun and is also one of the largest supporters of important issues such as pediatric cancer and personal body image, then look no further and go Tri Delta!
