recruitment numbers

1,976 girls signed up for recruitment this year. How do you think this incredibly high number will affect recruitment?

I guess this website didn't scare many girls away. LOL! Good luck to all.

Or 90% of them never got on this website because they know better and are more mature than us that do access it, which is more than likely the case..... "LOL"

All it'll do is add more pi chi groups, make Jesse hall even stuffier and make quota even higher. Quota was what, 89 last year? It'll probably be approaching 100 this year. Maybe more depending on how many drop from the week.

how many people rushed last year if quota was 89? Would it be safe to say that around 1500 people, give or take, get a bid? Or do more sororities just take their chances, choose to not meet quota and COB later on if they don't like as many girls during this rush?

Sororities don't get to chose how many women they take.

Quota is determined by Release Figure Methodology (RFM). RFM maximizes the number of women that will receive bids, as well as takes into account how many women chapters need to meet total (average number of women in a sorority at Mizzou). It tries to get as close as it can to making everyone happy - with chapters meeting total and pnms getting bids.

On bid day, each sorority will find out how many women they are taking. Most chapters will make quota. Some chapters have long bid lists the night before because they invite 100 women to each pref party. Some chapters will only invite 50 women to each pref party, but they have higher return rates and are more likely to have PNMs preference them, so historically they don't need to worry about making quota because if they are a stronger recruiting chapter, they will always get the girls they want.

Quota was 80 in 2013, although many chapters went above and beyond quota. 1760-something girls went through recruitment and the number of girls who got bids was between 1200 and 1300. Hundreds of girls drop during the week when they decide the process isn't for them, but I believe up to 150 women didn't receive bids on bid day, most likely because they did not preference all of their options.

I think you just restored my faith in Mizzou Greek life with a single post. Thank you for being well informed and for sharing the info.

As for the women who went bidless on bid day, yes, they did fail to maximize their options. If you attend three parties and list all three chapters on your MRABA, you will get a bid. If you attend two and list two, you will get a bid. List fewer chapters than you attend and you cannot be a quota addition, and you may slip through the cracks. The only reason ever not to list all chapters you pref is if you truly would rather not be Greek than be in one of the houses. Much better to list them all, and then use your new member period to decide if you want to stay in that house.
