by: pnmI got a letter in the mail the other day from a sorority asking for donations to their philanthropy event.. what does this really mean? anyone else have this happen?

It means you have a friend in that sorority and she was required to send out so many letters so she included your family. I think.
It's not tacky, if it the sorority I'm thinking about, they are just passionate about their philanthropy and are trying to raise as much money for them as possible.
The sorority does not track who donates and who does not. You are by no means required to send money as your friend will never know!
You can be happy about the fact that you have friends in sororities at ole miss. A lot of girls don't know anyone!
