ifc reform

When almost half of the IFC chapters are on some form of Probo then it's probably got something to do with IFC itself.

1. It's the chapters need to have a backbone and fight back. Not get run over and e so desperate.

2. Make less rules against frats and sororities. You have too many rules to get caught for. Everything you do puts you on probation.

3. Every year a new IFC board comes along. Guess what... That new board wants to make changes to improve the system. So they make more and more rules every year. Which ultimately to a rediculous amount of rules. After 10 years they have 10-15 more rules. BS.

Greek houses need to push back at IFC. Fight for more freedom. Once you lose the freedom you never get it back. It's gone. Inch by inch, rule by rule. Starts with registering parties. Than IFC walk through a. Than the next rule and the next. Greek houses need to push back at the controlling IFC. They will never stop getting more room into the houses.

IFC did walkthroughes for anything and everything. Kelp me out of houses.

No more long pledgesships, which means less money in the pot. Which means less stakeholders. Which means less pride to hold the ship together

not gonna happen. Increased Greek regulation is a national trend, its not just happening at IU. Greeks are bad PR for the university at large and dont contribute much other than a few great philanthropies. Considering recent incidents like Acacia IU has to turn down frats a little bit. Some rules are unnecessary I agree but if you break the rules you break the rules and they must be universally enforced whether you're in Sigma Chi or Skulls.

The made their own bad PR by kicking off Acacia and greating their own bad PR. So that just nullifies their own point. The hazing was nor more than before 2009.

Fight back against the regulation. Just because it's a trend doesnt mean its a good thing.

Just a bunch of 19 year olds wanting to make a name for themselves and making more rules.

RIght attitude, wrong target....The issue isn't IFC, it is the stupid Ethics Board....It is basically a kangaroo court. When my older brother was at IU, the IFC\PHA actually had its own J Board which enforced rules....now you have a 15 member board of which only like 8 are to be from any of the greek councils (that means the greek minority councils as well). So you have GDIs, non-ifc fraternities, and sorority members judging only the IFC chapters. There are only a handful of IFC guys on the board yet these are the only organizations ever held accountable for anything are IFC chapters (as sororities are almost never held accountable). The standard is basically guilty until proven innocent.

The rules are even so lopsided that you can not have an attorney make your case....Like I said above, this isn't due process, its a mockery of it, a kangaroo court.

Someone needs to get the student body president to push to restructure the campus judicial system. That is the first step to righting this ship.

Informed,

YOu have the right idea, yes. Greeks should have own judicial process and not GDI's making decisions for them. They should be allowed a lawyer present.

Greeks need to get the process back.

If you had any common sense you would not do such stupid things to get in trouble.

Get some strong alum as advisors and hold yourselves accountable. You are there to go to school. Start with that and let the social be second and things will fall into place.

Use social media less and there would not be evidence of your mistakes.

Act like a man and not a boy.

Learn moderation and accountability to each other, be humble when you are wrong!

Good luck.
