legacy

How big are sororities on legacies? Or is it kind of just irrelevant since greek life isn't as big?

It might give you some extra attention/be a nice conversation starter during recruitment, but generally all the sororities here are more interested in you as a person and how you'll fit in with the chapter

It completely depends on the sorority. Because of their nationals and advisors, the old and Southern sororities are very big on legacies. At AU, that probably only applies to Phi Mu and maybe Chi O.

DG nationally is big on legacies, but they've also dropped legacies after day 1 in the past, so their chapter may not be as constricted as other DG chapters are.

For smaller or newer chapters at AU, legacy vs non legacy isn't going to matter in the slightest. That's basically AEPhi, Sig Delt and AXD.

Not sure what the policy is for AXO and PSS, but knowing girls in those chapters at other schools, legacies don't seem to have a major advantage in their recruitment. It helps, but it's not going to give you a huge leg up like it would in other chapters.

you completely guessed here. XO does not care about legacies at ALL while AEPhi, Sig Delt and AXiD all really care about legacies, I don't know about dg axo and pss so I'm not going to comment on those but you shouldn't reply with ransom answers that aren't true.

Not true in the slightest, legacies matter a lot for any chapter. If they decide to cut you during recruitment, they would have to explain to nationals why and for what reason.

But they don't usually have an issue explaining that to nationals. Also, a lot of girls who are legacies usually don't fill out the paperwork so they don't actually have to tell nationals anything.

A Phi Mu legacy is very carefully considered for membership. It is a special bond that mothers, sisters, grandmothers and greatgrandmothers can share. We also bid women who have other or no Greek connections if it is mutually agreed they have found their forever home.
