Your GPA only says so much about you. If a girl has a GPA under a chapter's requirement but they extend them a bid anyway, it's because they see beyond what's on paper and often find intelligent (since GPA isn't always an indicator of that) beautiful, funny women with common interests of those in the house. GPA isn't the most important thing. Often times involvement and your personality greatly outweigh your grades.

Sadly most don't. They will automatically cut girls below their GPA requirement.

..almost all make exceptions. There would be no way to fill their classes if they didn't. Remember, this is UT not UVA or UGA.

The more competitive houses rarely make exceptions because they have so many girls that want them, they don't have to. I think my house has passed up some awesome girls due to grades. But if a house can make quota with girls with good grades, most see no reason to take girls below their GPA requirement.

Gpa exception could be for a strong legacy or related to an important alumni.

That is, for the more competitive houses.

Only the top one or two most competitive houses will drop. The rest have to accept at a lower level regardless of their "printed" requirements. UT is just not that competitive academically, so the pool is what it is.

Highly doubt that. My house won't accept girls below our cut off.
