Of the mid tiers I would say Beta, Delta sig, DU and Sammy all made good moves this year. I've also heard praise about the PIKA and DKE pledge classes. I'm sure there are some others as well.

delta sig is middle tier, and you could argue that DU is middle tier, especially with sigma nu gone
