The selection process is fraternal secrecy.

Each sorority has its own way of personally deciding who they want but all will review your photo and notes taken by those who spoke with you, et cetera. Every sister has a voice in this process.

For the most part, girls who are released from a particular house wouldn't mesh well with that house. Don't be offended; the sheer volume of potential new members makes it difficult to remember each girl. A person may not have clicked with the particular sisters she spoke with in that case, so it's important to mingle with as many sisters as possible.

Regardless of the methods used to decide who each sorority wants, they have to list all potential new members in two lists; their first choice bid list and their second choice bid list. The first list is alphabetical and the second list is names in the order that they would like to have those girls join.

Remember that you will also be weeding out groups as you go through Recruitment.

Yes. The chapters spend a lot of time prior to rush trying to put lists together of who they know and want then they go through rush applications and recs. They will check social media as well.

Legacies mean more in some houses over others

I should clarify something from the last posting. Each house willing to offer you a bid will have to put you on ONE of TWO lists. Your name will not be on both lists. Say your last name is Davis. If a house really wants you, your name will be on its first bid list, alphabetically, somewhere near the top. If a house wants you but wants their quota (the maximum number they take before they max out, or reach their total allowed) of girls more than you, then your name will go on the second list, in the order in which they want you. This is where sometimes tallies, votes and other methods come into play.

My house does not do it that way

Each house has their own methodology and it’s a secret
