snap bids

are not given to girls who did not participate in formal recruitment. Snap bids are given when a chapter has not matched to quota, to a girl that participated in formal recruitment but did not receive a bid.
If you can't participate in formal recruitment you should sign up for informal recruitment in the hopes that a sorority has either not pledged quota or is under total. Otherwise you will have to wait until spring.

technically, a group can give out snap bids to anyone they like. They don't necessarily have to have gone through recruitment. That's quota additions (which is done before bids are distributed, so, no one knows who is a QA). HOWEVER, that being said, snap bids are typically very unlikely, and if they are offered, most groups will know who they're going to and won't just pick someone random. Girls that have gone through recruitment and didn't receive a bid or dropped out are the most likely contenders for snap bids because the groups got to meet them.
Your best chance is to do formal recruitment when you're a freshman. Try to clear up your schedule so you can participate.
