Fraternity/sorority houses, annex houses, apartments, and even dorms. These homes will likely be the settings of some of the most fun we’ll ever have. Whether our four years are up or we’re just moving across campus, we will continue to move in and out of these temporary homes. Wouldn’t it be nice if we started to record some of the good times we had under each roof so the group of students who came after us could appreciate the legacy of the home?
Introducing TheseWallsTalk.com.
These Walls Talk was created as an online archive that will tell the first-person story of a home by allowing past residents to share photos and short stories. Through this site, we now have the opportunity to leave our mark on the places we’ve lived so that future generations of brothers/sisters/non-greeks can appreciate the history of these homes.
Take a fraternity/sorority house for example. A lot of these homes are older and steeped in the awesome history and traditions of the brothers/sisters who came before us. I know I’d personally love to see photos of what a real 80s party looked like in the very same social room we now fill each weekend. Even more than just the parties…I’d be curious to see what a chapter meeting looked like or a study room without laptops.
Through These Wall Talk, we now have the opportunity to feed the curiosity of the people who will eventually make our homes their own. Personally, I also would like to check in on my college homes 5, 10, 15 years down the road to see how the next generation of students have enjoyed the space. I figure if I start the legacy now, hopefully it’ll catch on and I’ll be able to check in on the place throughout my lifetime.
