You made it! Finals are finally over. For the last several weeks you have locked yourself up and put all your focus and energy toward crushing your final exams. You probably have not had the time to consider what your next moves are before you leave campus for the summer. We have you covered. Here’s a check list of the next steps you should take before you pack it up and get going.
Take a nap.
Seriously, just lay down and take the time to de-stress. It’s over. There is nothing you can do about your grade now. When you wake up you’re probably going to be anxious to get your exam score, but allow yourself to turn off your brain for several hours.
If you live in an off-campus house, you do not want to leave campus without having cancelled your heat, electric, water, and other utilities. The last thing you want to see during summer break is a utility bill for a month you weren’t event living there.
Sell whatever you can.
Books, study outlines, posters, furniture…anything you won’t need next year. Cash in on those hidden assets.
Go curb shopping.
The old saying goes “one person’s trash is another’s treasure”. This is a great time to just take a stroll around and see what students hastily discarded in a rush to get off campus for the summer. Go explore and find your treasure.
Take a trip to the bookstore for some deep discounts.
The bookstore wants to dump all the current year’s merchandise so they have fresh threads for when everyone returns in the fall. Stop in the bookstore and pick up a $5 t-shirt or $10 sweats. You will thank yourself next year when you need something that shows some school spirit.
Fill up on your favorite greasy college food.
Yes, we all crave a home cooked meal, but a couple weeks into vacation you will be missing your favorite college eat. Stop in and savor it one more time. Stick around campus.
What is the immediate rush to get home? You might have one, but if you don’t then stick around for a couple days. You will be received by fun graduation parties and a contagious stress-free vibe from those who also stuck around.
