Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
Ask us a question in the discussion box to the right.
If it's worthy, we'll answer it down below.

Q: What criteria do you use to rank sororities and fraternities?
A: Each fraternity and sorority is currently rated by our users based on Hotness, Popularity, Involvement, Classiness, and Fun. If you feel that these are wrong or you feel like we could add more criteria, please Contact Us and give us some feedback.

Q: Can GreekRank delete the all 1's and all 5's ratings?
A: We're not too sure what to do about this. We don't want users to have to login, but we also don't want the issue with the all 1's and 5's to exist. What we may do in the future is not order the fraternities and sororities by ranking and that way people won't be put under so much pressure to move a certain organization up or down.

Q: Are these posts completely anonymous?
A: We collect each user's IP address as is explained in our privacy policy. This is for trending and research purposes and also to avoid spam. The IP address basically tells us what general location you are posting from in the World, and sometimes also your browser and ISP - nothing we can use to identify an individual person. If you have a problem with this (which you shouldn't), please feel free to use any one of the anonymous proxy sites on the internet.

Q: I was wondering whether schools could be deleted upon the request of the university?
A: Currently, since we delete almost all reported posts that contain attacks or defamation of individuals, we see no reason to remove particular schools, fraternities, or sororities. If you have a problem with a comment or rating since it lists your name or attacks a particular person please report it so we can remove it.

Q: What about defamation regarding content on this site?
A: We are not required to remove any content. However, in good faith and at our own discretion and pace, we remove comments/ratings that single out individuals, contain ethic prejudice, or are extremely offensive. Reporting comments/ratings like these helps us identify them quicker. But ultimately it is our decision whether they need to be removed or not. For more information about specific laws regarding this topic, please visit our legal page.

Q: Where do you stand on advertising or promoting a business on a particular page?
A: In the near future, we will be offering advertising options for specific or all pages of GreekRank.com. When we first introduce this, advertising prices should be very low so keep your eyes open. Expected completion: August 15th, 2008.

Q: How do you add a school?
A: To add a school, fraternity, or sorority, please visit our request page. A link to this page can be found in the heading bar on most pages of this site.

Q: Is the site owner a student at Florida State University?
A: No.

Q: When looking at fraternity/sorority information, are the number of chapters listed the total number of chapters, or just active/open chapters?
A: The number listed is active chapters only. Obviously these numbers change frequently, but we will try to keep them updated as much as possible. Either way, the size rankings should stay the same regardless.

Look at what UT (Texas) did. The ratings were totally scrambled and it's hilarious, so that nothing is in order. I guess they're sick of people judging = looks like the joke is on those in charge of the website.

Since comments are made anonymously, people are very courageous to make slanderous comments about others. Your site is a farce as there are no checks and balances. It is really a shame that you don't make an effort to create a website that puts the greeks in a positive light. Instead it serves to bolster the impression that many already have that people in the greek system are shallow individuals. Shame on your creators!
