Going to college opens a college student to a new educational world. They will experience things that will only happen because they are in college. Undergraduates will go through changes in their lives. Some of their experiences will be either bad or good, but they will play a major role in the type of adult they will become. The possibilities and outcomes of an average college student are endless. Here are six common things a college student will learn once they attend to college.

Battling weight gain
You might try hard to avoid it, but the truth is that you can’t. Some incoming freshman or continuing students go through something called the “freshman 15”.The freshman 15 is an estimate of how much weight a college student will gain once they attend college. Some colleges have all-you-can-eat meal plans. Students are exposed to junk food, food courts, and greasy foods daily.

Hitting the gym
Rec centers are open for their students to workout daily. College gyms are a great way to increase your social status and work on toning your body.

Staying punctual
College is not like high school, especially when it comes to attending classes. There is no one to remind you of your tardiness or lateness.  The only reminder you will receive is a sub-par GPA at the end of the semester.

Keeping up-to-date with your grades
You will not get a mid-semester report in college. You could ask your professors, but they would probably say they do not know. They have to grade a lot of students’ papers. A good way to keep track of your grade is to pay attention to what grades you receive on papers, quizzes, and exams.

Finding new friends
While you are in college, the cultures you will get introduced to are unimaginable. As you meet people from all different social classes and backgrounds, your horizons will expand. Sometimes the friends you meet in summer orientation are the friends that will carry you out to graduation.

Living on a budget
College life can be expensive. Coupling this with lack of availability to earn money, some college students will live on a tight budget.

Of course, there are more common things college students will experience, but the rest you will to pick on your own. If you are new to college, then enjoy the ride. If you are not new to college, then continue to enjoy yourself.
