I was under the impression that most chapters were traditional but stated they were balanced man on paper for risk management.

Balance or traditional, it's all paper. We are all one. We all earn our letters. SigEp's BL lasts a life time. Best fraternity on the nation.

I am from a pledge model chapter, and honestly I dont think there is anything like it. Imagine the kind of brotherhood thats built in a balanced man chapter, and multiply that through a pledging semester. It's the way to go, I'm sorry but balanced man doesnt compare.

The Balanced Man concept has given Sig Ep an element of distinction amount other fraternities. Obviously I rushed and pledged Sig Ep in the 80's. The concept of not hazing pledges was a foreign concept. We were ridiculed by "traditional" houses that hazed their pledges. I am surprised this concept is being debated. I anticipated that by now all chapters would be on board. The ability to prove worth by participating in community sevice would prove to mold a different fraternity man. Balanced Man is a concept for life, not just a few years of college.

Anyone who says that a traditional chapter gets hazed to be in SigEp or denies it's merit, value system, or difficulty obviously has no knowledge whatsoever of what the practices a SigEp traditional chapter are.

Coming from a traditional chapter, and one of the most successful chapters in the United States hoping for our fourth Buck Cup this year, I can say that we hold the same values that every other chapter does and should hold. In my four month pledging semester, I never was hazed - no, not once - and I think our success as a chapter proves that either pledging method works as long as it is in the right hands.
